Just down the road from Le Moulin, Nîmes is one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world. Stroll between ancient monuments, the lanes of the old town and 18th-century gardens.
From Le Moulin Bérénice: About 15 minutes by car.
Don’t miss
- The Arena : a late 1st-century Roman amphitheatre, one of the best preserved in the Roman world, still hosting shows and ferias today.
- The Maison Carrée : a remarkably intact Roman temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- The Jardins de la Fontaine and the Tour Magne : formal French gardens around the ancient spring, and a view over the whole city.
- The Musée de la Romanité, opposite the Arena, telling 25 centuries of history.
- Les Halles covered market and the pedestrian centre, to taste brandade and other local specialities.
Good to know
The centre is easy to explore on foot. Park in one of the underground car parks near the Arena.
