Built in the 1st century to carry water to Nîmes, the Pont du Gard is the tallest Roman aqueduct known. Its three tiers of arches span the Gardon river in an outstanding natural setting, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
From Le Moulin Bérénice: About 40 minutes by car.
Don’t miss
- The view of the aqueduct from the banks of the Gardon.
- Swimming in the Gardon in summer, from the pebble beaches.
- The site’s museum and exhibition spaces.
- Waymarked trails through the scrubland around the bridge.
- Canoeing down the Gardon from Collias.
Good to know
Allow half a day, or a full day in summer if you want to swim. There is a paid car park at the entrance.
